Experience with the Roomba i7158
The Roomba i7 plus is the successor to the currently best vacuum robot Roomba 980/981. Whether the leader is now being replaced, we tell you in the following review.
Does the robotic vacuum find the way?
The iRobot Roomba i7158 is equipped with the iAdapt 3.0 navigation technology. This means that he first maps the room. During the ride, the vacuum robot creates marking points in the rooms. So he always knows where he was and where he still has to go. Should the Roomba i7156 run out of battery, it will find its own way back to the charging station, charge itself and start cleaning exactly where it left off. Basically I can say that the navigation is the best currently on the market. It’s a lot better than the Roomba 980 predecessor. The apartment may still be so winding, but the robot can still cope.
What's the suction power of the Roomba i7 +?
Basically, I want to mention that with all Roomba devices, the suction power is very good compared to the competition. In this device it is just as good as the predecessor model the Roomba 981 Since we noticed no difference. But that does not have to be. Any dirt as well as hair and carpets are absolutely no problem for these two vacuum robots. But we find it a pity that there is only one side brush on the device for the corners and edges. That’s not a problem. But if two were installed, then the cleaning field would also increase.
The mobile app is exemplary
The mobile app by iRobot is by far the best of all manufacturers. Ecovacs or Neato might have a go. The decor is very easy. That’s why I’m giving up an explanation here. The app is available for Andriod as IOS free. This will allow you to create a cleaning plan for the Roomba i7156. When and at what time should he be able to cleanse be set. It will display the created map of your apartment. You can see when which wear parts have to be changed and much more. In a nutshell … the app is just great
NO-GO-Line Why is this not included again?
Too bad we find that there is no virtual function for blocking various areas. With the Roomba i7156, this is only possible with a Virtual Wall. This is a small plastic box that draws a virtual border in the room. One is included. This may not exceed the Roomba .. he does not. In the competition devices we the Deebot 901 or Botvac D6 this can be made much more convenient by Handyapp. This feature could really integrate iRobot. It’s just a lot easier to draw a line on the phone as part of setting up.
Automatic emptying?
Yes that’s really true. The i-Series from iRobot can empty itself. But you have to buy a CleanBase. As a result, the Roomba i7 + automatically empties when the dirt container is full. In our test, the container must be emptied in the CleanBase after 2 months that first. This means that for the iRobot Roomba i7 + you have to do absolutely nothing for two months. He cleans the apartment absolutely autonomously, Provided he comes everywhere and there are no small parts around. But if you want that, you have to dig deep into your pocket.
Alternative devices to the Roomba i7158
The Roomba i7 + is pretty expensive. That’s why we present you here two cheaper alternatives.
Deebot 900/901
The Deebot 900/901 is a great suction robot with almost the same features as the Roomba i7. Only the app weakens a bit. But there is also a remote control. He is halfway through.
Roomba 980/ 981
The Roomba 980/981 is the best vacuum cleaner of recent years. There is nothing wrong with buying this if you can do without automatic emptying. This saves a lot of money.
Conclusion to the Roomba i7156 / i7158
1000 euros too much for a vacuum cleaner? Yes … then have a look at the suction robots up to 300 euros.
